This document covers the concepts necessary to understand the Synap Exam journey and how to integrate your Proctoring Tool with our system.Synap terminology#
Portal: An instance of a customer’s environment within Synap. Each customer has their own portal under a subdomain. For example, https://acme.synap.ac. Subportal: Used for B2B-to-B2C structures where a customer creates isolated environments for their own set of customers.
Attempt: A record of a user taking a quiz. There will be 1 attempt per-candidate, per-exam (sometimes more where resits are allowed).
Candidate: A user that is taking an attempt.
Quiz: A set of questions that a candidate can answer. An attempt involves a candidate taking a quiz.
Exam: Ties together a quiz with a set of candidates with rules around the exam conditions, grades and proctoring.
Quiz Player: The page shown to a candidate during an attempt. It will load the set of questions where the candidate can answer each question and then submit their attempt.
Results: The page shown to a candidate after their attempt has been submitted.
